Your data

Delete your account

Two taps, no email required, and nothing is kept for a “cooling-off” period.

Do it yourself, now

  1. Open Recfinly — here in your browser, or the Android app.
  2. Go to Account.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
  4. Confirm. That is the whole process — it happens immediately.

You will need to sign in first, because we have no way to tell it is your account otherwise. If you have uninstalled the app, the browser link above is enough — you do not need to reinstall anything.

What is deleted

Permanently, and straight away:

  • Your login and profile — email, display name, avatar
  • Every receipt you have scanned or entered, including the photos
  • Your accounts and balances, income, bills, subscriptions and reminders
  • Your goals, budgets, net-worth history and saved plans
  • Your DuitNow QR, if you saved one
  • Your push notification tokens

If you pay for Recfinly Plus, that subscription is cancelled as part of this. You do not have to cancel it first, and you will not be charged again. (The “subscriptions” in the list above means the recurring bills you track inside the app — a different thing.) If we cannot reach our payment processor to cancel it, the deletion stops and asks you to try again, rather than closing your account and leaving a payment running that you would have no way left to stop.

Cancelling happens immediately rather than at the end of the period you have already paid for, because the account it belongs to is about to stop existing. We do not refund the unused part of a month or a year, so if you are partway through a paid period and want that back, ask us by email before you delete.

What stays, and why

Shared group expenses are not yours alone. If we deleted an expense you had entered for a trip, everyone else in that group would find their balances no longer added up — we would be destroying their records to erase yours.

So the expense survives and your link to it does not. Your name on those rows becomes “Deleted user”, and nothing connects them back to you: no email, no profile, no account. The same applies to any group or household you created — it keeps running for the people still in it, without you.

If you would rather those expenses were gone too, delete or leave the groups first, then delete your account.

How long it takes

The deletion is immediate — it is a single database operation, not a queued job, and your login stops working the moment it finishes. Encrypted infrastructure backups are kept for a short period as a matter of ordinary disaster-recovery practice and age out on their own schedule; they are never used to restore a deleted account.

If you would rather we did it

Email support@recfinly.com from the address on your account, with the subject “Delete my account”. We will confirm once it is done. Asking from a different address means we cannot verify it is your account, so we will have to ask you to use the one you signed up with.

Just want your data out first?

You can export your receipts as a CSV file before you go — from Receipts in the browser, or from Account in the Android app. Deletion cannot be undone and we cannot recover an account afterwards, so if you want the records, take them first.
